The Entrance to Bridewell Police Station Feb 2008
Hello and welcome to the first NEAT E-mail……….
Our first, formally, informal mail out to the neat crew. There’s quite a bit to get through, so maybe press print and in the meantime make a cuppa, grab a biscuit, find a comfy chair and then start reading……
We’ve reached a point at the NEAT studio’s where we need to take a kind of more serious approach to the amazing space we have, and the building that we’re in. We’re now paying our agreed rent to ARTSPACE-LIFESPACE and have secured our space for the duration of the Bridewell Island Project…
For the months that we have effectively been squatting the Bridewell police custody area the rents have been wavered due to our communal and
continual efforts to help with the Artspace lifespace projects and the Amazing Invisible Circus.
Please also bare in mind managing our waste properly and the recycling projects going on in the Island, as these are things which we should be
reinforcing at the NEAT studios. If anybody is unsure where bins are there located outside or within the studio please ask. For the photography side of things, the facilities are great and although there’s more to be done, (Installing the Wash Room, Cleaning the areas regularly and making things more functional) with plans to access more darkroom equipment.
The ideals would be to expand the digital side of things, with scanning facilities, computers, plus camera equipment which could be hired starting with the Professional Lighting equipment which has been gathered already.
It’s all in the pipeline, so please bare with the NEAT pace as these things do take time and hands on deck is the key.
We look to Jake, Nicki, Jon and whoever else can help us with the creative input and a monthly membership contribution for your use of these studios and the facilities.
The plan is that this core group will stay small and focused allowing us to expand our individual
creative journeys and professional practice, such an approach also reflects the size of the space we have.
There will soon be a diary on the front desk where you’ll be able to book sessions and just generally workaround neat people. We also have a small amount of storage space that we’d like to offer out.
We’ve all done amazing to take it this far and we’re all like-minded people who are great to bounce off so hopefully this is just the start of a great community, who’s “Neat not Tidy”.
Phew you made it !, that’s all for now but coming soon more neat news of opportunities and events in the not too distant future all aiming to spread our talents and the neat word.
Cheers y’all
